Hello, I am Caitlin Shiner, the creator of Leaf & Lace; I chose the name to reflect my love of nature and vintage design. I am a self-taught artist and printmaker; I mainly create linocut and collagraph prints and a mixture of watercolour, oil and acrylic paintings. All my work is inspired by nature, from the plants and animals in the countryside and coastline around where I live in North Devon; to my large garden which is always full of birds and sometimes even my two beautiful whippets named Mimi and Luna.
I have a deep love and appreciation for 20th century design with a particular affinity for the Art Nouveau, Art Deco movements and Bloomsbury artists; which have a subliminal influence on my work, characterised by a feminine fluid style botanical subjects and a subtle but rich colour palette.
You will mostly find my prints and paintings on here, however I also enjoy creating hand printed textile items such as luxury silk scarves, upcycled, hand printed vintage table linens and fabrics which are sewn by my daughter Araminta Pain into unique headbands.
